Recovery Coaching
You may wonder, "What is Recovery Coaching, exactly?" Coaching is different than therapy in that it is present- time skill based, and focuses on life management in recovery. Coaching is different than sponsorship in that it is not connected to any one program; many avenues to sobriety are explored. Ideally, a person new to recovery could have a support team including a therapist, a coach and a sponsor. A coach may help you set goals and routines that will support your recovery, assist you in navigating complicated judicial and medical systems, provide resources and ideas to help you sustain your recovery, and check in with you to encourage working toward and meeting those goals. Recovery may feel like a whole new way of life, and a coach is there to help you learn to thrive in it.
You may wonder:
-"How do I know if I am an alcoholic or addict? How much is too much?"
-"What would treatment for addiction look like for me?"
-"How do I manage work and/ or family to get help for myself?"
-"What are the Twelve Steps andwould they work for me?"
-"Are there groups to connect with that fit my personality and schedule?"
-"What might I expect from legal or medical system involvement due to my use?"
-"How can I manage all of this?"
At Pathways, we can help you figure out the answers to these questions in a way that is tailored to you as an individual. Recovery is not a one size fits all way of life. We believe that you hold the intuition and ability to build your own success and happiness and we help you figure out how to do that. Sometimes, harmful cycles are difficult to break on one's own. We work collaboratively with you on goal setting in various areas of life with an aim to break the cycle of addiction and to achieve personal happiness, joy and freedom. We assist you in developing a structure in your daily routines and in obtaining resources and connections that support the achievement of personal goals.
After our initial phone conversation, we begin with meetings, either in person, or virtually, centered around helping you succeed. We help you develop structure for upcoming days and weeks with these goals in mind. We connect with resources that may contribute to your recovery. Then, as these structures are put into place we reflect on their effectiveness, and supports and challenges. Pathways offers flexible scheduling to work around YOU. We do not take insurance, although you may be able to submit receipts for reimbursement through a Flexible Spending Account.
